Theistic Satanism is just… Satanism. We are independent, worship only ourselves, believe in free-thought, and embrace total personal responsibility. The only way we differ from Atheistic Satanists is that we accept the idea that Satan exists as an actual entity and not just a symbol. Some of us even take that beyond Satan and believe that many other entities exist alongside humanity as well.
However, we do NOT worship any entity. That would completely contradict what Satanism stands for in the first place, wouldn’t it? You can’t worship yourself and kneel down for Satan as well. That just wouldn’t be practical.
There are a lot of individuals in online communities that claim to worship Satan and be Theistic Satanists. Type ‘theistic Satanism’ into Google and scan the results. It’s full of false information and devil-worship. These are people that have embraced a false stereotype. They only pay attention to the ‘Satan’ part of ‘Satan’ism without understanding the religion in its entirety.
And anyone that understands Satanism knows that you can’t worship some external entity and be a Satanist.
As theistic Satanists, we simply understand that there are sentient beings beyond ourselves. However, that in no way means that we worship those beings. We just exist alongside them.
“No god has a right to interfere in my affairs, and I have made it an imperative rule that everyone shall refrain from worshiping ALL gods.”
- Chapter 1, ‘The Al Jilwah, The Black Book of Satan’.
